4 Natural Scent Boosters for the Home
No one wants to live in or visit a home that has stale or smelly air. If your Charleston, South Carolina, home is suffering the effects of unpleasant odors, you may be thinking about how to eliminate those smells and replace them with fresh scents. Unfortunately, some types of air fresheners and sprays can cause irritation and aggravate allergy and asthma symptoms. Instead of causing discomfort or living with bad smells, use these natural scent boosters in your home.
Essential Oils
Essential oils come in a variety of scents, making it easy to find an option that is appealing to you. Additionally, these oils often have antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, which can freshen and purify the air at the same time. Use a diffuser with water and a few drops of your favorite oil to radiate the scent throughout the space.
Coffee
The smell of coffee is inviting and appealing, so use it to freshen up your home. If the garbage gets stinky before you take it out, place coffee grounds in the bottom of the bag to get rid of the odor. You can also use bowls of ground coffee beans as natural air fresheners or bake some coffee beans in the oven to produce a smell that will move throughout the rooms of your house.
Plants and Flowers
Certain types of plants can reduce allergens and improve indoor air quality, so adding these plants in your home can make a big difference in the air you breathe. For a fresher scent, place vases of fresh-cut flower bouquets in rooms that tend to have odors, such as the kitchen and bedrooms.
Homemade Potpourri
Improve the smell of your kitchen instantly by boiling a pot of water and adding a few slices of lemon and a handful of cloves. The smell produced by this concoction is fresh and appealing but won’t aggravate allergic symptoms.
